Original artwork by artist Christian Guémy, aka C215, created on two authentic burned 500-franc banknotes. The artwork is stenciled, a technique specific to the famous C215. The C215 logo was also stenciled onto the banknotes, along with the artist’s blind-stamped embossing.

The artist says: “Since we’re talking about raising taxes… In 1984, to raise awareness of the burden of French taxation, Serge Gainsbourg burned part of a 500-euro note live on television, causing a scandal. Iconic. This work was therefore created to mark the 40th anniversary of this unforgettable publicity stunt.”

This gesture by Serge Gainsbourg, the famous French singer and actor, shocked, while becoming legendary.
