▷ Missing cat by Fransoist, 2024 | Oil Painting for Sale Don’t Miss Out

The canvas pays homage to Cézanne’s apple still lifes. On a table with a white tablecloth, a basket and a blue-checked tea towel contain fruit, including apples, pears, and grapes. In the background, a shelf of books and, to the left, an easel on which rests, through a mise en abyme, another painting by FranSoisT. The title of the canvas refers to the fact that the reproduced work is fragmented, as if the painter had wanted to erase the presence of the cat (a model often present in other paintings). However, a strange orange shadow, the shadow of an object that does not exist, represents the cat with a pointed ear. The oblique, very gestural touches contrast with the glaze finish. Here again, the scene, seemingly innocuous, takes on a fantastical appearance.
