Exploration of Landscape
Each work is borne out of abstraction, while retaining recognisable forms that capture the essence of landscape, through colour and texture. The result brings together many layers, elements and details that give freedom of interpretation to the beholder. Paint contests the division between the realms of memory, emotion and experience, making use of a series of colours that resemble the reaction to the tonal vibration that shapes how we see reality. Vision, and its subsequent interpretation, is so much the result of unconscious reference, a mere reflection of light on a surface. Asking fundamental questions about our place in nature, and nature’s place in us.
