Li Lihong is an artist native of Jingdezhen of Jiangxi province, a town known as the « Porcelain Capital » with a long history of producing pottery where he learned the ceramics with a foremost master Qin Xiling.

Nourished by an illustrious tradition, Li lihong has always dreamed to be an outstanding ceramist since his childhood. The ancestor’s creations and the guidance of Qin Xiling, all bring a modern feeling in his works. Different from his teacher’s traditional works, Li Lilihong was inspired by the Chinese great ceramic creations but added contemporary elements to his works.

By interiorising all the influences of international contemporary society, from advertising to the consummation culture (assimilated by Chinese culture following the arrival of large global companies such as Coca-Cola or McDonald’s in the 1980s), Li Lihong retranscribes in his ceramics the ancestral quality of traditional porcelain infused into new forms born of the confrontation between tradition and modernity, and more specifically the meeting of East and West.
